Vanise Hinsely
Steve was born and raised in Burleson as was his wife, Carey. He is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas and has a Master's Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary were he also did doctoral studies. Steve and Carey founded a new church in Burleson while attending seminary and he has pastored First Baptist Church McCamey in West Texas and First Baptist Church Iowa Park near Wichita Falls. He and Carey have four children, two of which live in Burleson and serve at Oak Grove. He came to Oak Grove in May of 2002 as only the second full time pastor in the church's 100 year history. He has pastored Oak Grove through many changes including 3 building projects, the purchase of 8.5 acres of property, and the current planning of a new worship center. His priorities of preaching and evangelsim have allowed him to watch God grow the church from less than 100 to nearly 300 in attendance.
Rick joined the Oak Grove staff in May of 2007. For over thirty-seven years, Rick has served in the areas of music, youth, and discipleship ministries. As he served the Lord in Texas he enjoyed being part of the beginning of "See You at the Pole". Rick is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Carol who is a musician, vocalist and voice instructor. They have two daughters who are also serving the Lord in Worship Ministry. Rick is deeply committed to the National Network of Youth Ministries, dedicated to working alongside of as many evangelical groups as possible to produce lifestyle worshipers and lifelong disciples.

Carla joined the Oak Grove staff in 2010. She and her husband, Bret, have 3 daughters, Jenny, Megan, and Annie, and 1 son, Keet.
Theresa joined the Oak Grove staff in 2009. She and her husband, Bill, have 2 daughters, Sarah and Megan.
Kristy joined Oak Grove staff in 2008. She and her husband, Stuart, have 2 daughters, Courtney and Kelly and they have a son, Christopher.
Linda has lived in Burleson since 1985 and joined Oak Grove in March of the following year. She has been secretary at Oak Grove since 2000. She and her husband, Bob, are proud of their 2 daughters and one granddaughter.

We are a body of believers committed to worshipping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Southern Baptist Church, we join likeminded Christians in spreading the gospel around the world. Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds and at our church we desire to do the same. That is why you will discover here ministries geared to various life stages and needs. That is why we have a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities. We want you to be a part of the blessings of God in the life of our church. NORTH AMERICAIn a small Vermont town, there stood an old vacant church. God called North American missionaries LYANDON and KIM WARREN to impact this area and fill that old church. Working bivocationally while building relationships in the town, Lyandon is seeing new life rise up in that old building. New life is exciting, but also fragile. Pray for protection and direction as they lead this new group of believers in a small town where most don’t know Christ. From the smallest of towns to the largest of cities, your support of missions through CP is making a difference. This week, ask God to bless and multiply the ministry of the Warrens.

Casseroles for Christ

An outreach and in-reach ministry helping those experiencing illness, death, moving, new arrival or needing assistance or just a little encouragement. This ministry, Casseroles for Christ, is a way we can each accept Christs Empowerment Ladies Accepting Christs Empowerment (LACE). In Hebrews 10:24-25 the word says and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near (NAS). Through Casseroles for Christ we hope to reach people, whether members of OGBC or people in the community who have a need. There are occasions when people have immediate needs and we feel with a little planning we can stock the freezer with casseroles and soups so when a need arises, the church can respond immediately. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Harla Adams at 817-874-8370 or hadams_nihcl.com. Please pray this ministry will be a blessing to those receiving the casseroles/soup!

F-Cubed is an opportunity for the people of the Oak Grove church body to get top know each other better in a social setting of your choosing. Groups are forming now and its not to late to join in a group!! The groups will then decide together when and where to meet and what activities (dinner, game nights, bowling, whatever) to do over the next few months. This has been proven to be a fun, safe, interesting way to get to know folks of various ages and areas of the church that you might not have an opportunity to meet, much less get to know, otherwise. A Note from Our Pastor

I trust you can say with me, “Thank you Lord for all you did in 2011!” We were blessed with 15 people who were baptized and four more who have accepted Christ and are awaiting baptism. We have another 42 new brothers and sisters who have joined the Oak Grove Family. We celebrated a big church anniversary, “100 Years of Amazing Grace!” and have had a variety of events, ministries, and mission trips that have had kingdom impact. We were especially generous during the holiday season helping more than 100 children with Christmas gifts from 60 different families. 2011 was the year we moved worship into the ROC and plans for a new 550 seat worship center are taking shape. We have honored our God with blood (Red Cross Donations), sweat (Faith in Action), and even a few tears of joy for all God has done!Now we stand on the threshold of a new year. What does the year 2012 hold for us? We start the year using a new translation of the scriptures, the English Standard Version or ESV. I hope you received one for Christmas and have made the commitment to read it through this year. If you didn’t receive one I hope you will pick up a copy and use it as your “church” Bible. It is a very literal and reliable translation and I will begin preaching from this version in January.We also have a great undertaking before us as we seek to sharpen our focus by developing a Mission Statement, a Vision Statement and several values statements. While this may sound like a foreign language to you now, I trust in a few months it will be crystal clear as will be our direction as a family of faith. The new Director of Missions for Tarrant Baptist Association, David Bowman, will be facilitating this process for us. You can begin now praying for God’s guidance. I encourage all church leaders to read the book “Radical Together” by David Platt to help prepare you for this journey into a deeper and clearer understanding of who God has called OGBC to be.As we begin a new year I trust in a few months you will be able to say with me, “Thank you Lord for all you did in 2012!”For His Honor,Steve

The Centennial History of OGBCBy Bill Fisher As I recite the books that comprise our Old Testament, the Hebrew Bible (which was the Bible Jesus and the early church read,) I am struck by the fact that the first 16 of them constitute a history of the people of God. Scholars point out that this is very unusual among ancient peoples. The Israelites were the first to consider it important enough to write the story of how they came to be a unique people, certainly moved by the Spirit of God to do so. According to them, this story is not dry facts with dates and such, but is more a record of how God created them, moved among them, used them for His purposes, made them His own special people. These stories werent simply history; they told His Story. This aspect, too, was unique among ancient peoples. When it was written, nothing like it had ever been written in the world. This weaving and understanding of history as guided by the hand of God is so unique that German scholars gave it a name, Holy History. As the person designated to write the centennial history of OGBC, I am convinced how true this is of our story as well. In a similar fashion, the history of OGBC tells how God moved among a people in this location to plant a church, to use them for His purposes, and to make them His own special people. Like the Israelites before us, we see His moving as an act of unmerited favor, hence the title, 100 Years of Amazing Grace. Like that of the Israelites, our story speaks of sinners and saints, triumphs and failures, miracles and plain hard work. Like a wedding anniversary, celebrating a centennial history accomplishes several purposes. For one, we acknowledge our dependence on and gratitude for God as well as for those men and women He used to plant this church and get it this far. After all, we worship here because of their partnership, their commission and vision. We are also encouraged in our work because we see how God used imperfect people to accomplish His will here in Burleson Texas and are confident that He can use us as well. And lastly, we gain perspective and vision because Gods purpose here stretches beyond yesterday and today to the future. In celebrating our 100 year anniversary, we acknowledge our own cloud of witnesses, those imperfect people of faith who came before us, cheering us on to run our own race of faith into the 21st century.
